Food Sensitivity Testing

Understanding Food Sensitivities and Optimal Nutrition

A Food Sensitivity is not a Food Allergy

A Food Sensitivity is NOT a food allergy. A food allergy involves a dramatic toxic response from the body due to exposure to certain foods. It is an immediate, robust, and (usually) permanent response that can be mild or even deadly. Food allergies are typically discovered in childhood, with a few exceptions, and rarely involves foods that are tolerable.

A food sensitivity, on the other hand, involves foods that can be tolerated and this is one of the hints to distinguish an allergy from a sensitivity. Although the food can be ingested, the body still creates an inflammatory response. This reaction, however, can occur several days later and can be overlooked as a result.

Symptoms of Food Sensitivities:

  • Eczema
  • Unexplained skin eruptions
  • Hives
  • Sinusitis
  • Arthritis
  • Asthma
  • Migraines
  • Abdominal Pain
  • Nausea
  • Diarrhea
  • Constipation

Testing for food sensitivities is important for 2 reasons:

  • Personalized Nutrition or optimal nutrition, requires knowing what works best for your body! If you are eating a food that causes unknown inflammation, your nutrition is sub par and this inflammation will only grow in its level of toxicity.

  • Food Sensitivity may be the reason for unexplained medical symptoms. Just imagine if your medical condition is really due to a food sensitivity.

We test for the most common foods sensitivities including wheat, lactose and dairy, nuts, and eggs

What to expect on test day:

Our in-office test is SIMPLE, QUICK, and CONVENIENT. There are no blood draws or skin pricks. The test takes less than 5 minutes and involves only a finger stick to obtain a blood sample. This sample is then sent to a specialty lab for processing. In approximately 2 weeks the lab results are returned and you are 1 step closer to ideal health and wellness!

At the time of the visit, each patient will receive a Patient Guide explaining how to interpret test results and how to proceed with personalized health recommendations. Each patient has the choice to follow recommendations on their own using the Patient Guide or schedule optional follow-up (virtual) visits to discuss new personalized diet with the doctor. Optional follow-up visits are not included in the price of the food sensitivity test.
